Jamaica Elementary School has teamed up with Mohave State Bank to provide an innovative in-school banking program. This program combines critical financial literacy education for students in the 3rd through 5th grades along with the real life experience of running an actual bank. Selected “junior bankers” were trained to operate the bank one day a week. Students who participate in the program are given actual accounts and taught how to budget, save and keep track of their savings balances. The Lake Havasu Area Chamber helped officiate the ribbon cutting for the Jamaica Junior Banker’s grand opening.
