LOCAL GOLFERS CLAIM GREEN JACKET IN TWILIGHT TOURNEY

Local golfers John Schneider, Brian Conway, Bill Morgan and Mike Quinn claimed the coveted Chamber Green Jacket after shooting a net score of 20 in last Friday’s “Golf Under the Starts” event, hosted by the Lake Havasu Area Chamber of Commerce. Lead sponsor was Yellowbook.
Taking second place honors with a score of 21 was the foursome of Randy Smith, Dave McWherter, Jarrod Lyman and Tom Mecum.
The tournament was held at the Island Golf Course at The Nautical. Tee off was a twilight – 8 p.m. and nine holes were completed in full dark with all teams finishing just before midnight. The afterhours format was a first for the Chamber’s golf tournament, which has been a fundraiser for 10 years.
The golf match followed a Hawaiian themed Luau in The Nautical’s Convention Center, where participants were treated to authentic Hula dancing, courtesy of LouAnn Heard’s Hula Class. Heard is an instructor at the Alice Marsh Studio.
“Over all the evening was a great success,” said Lisa Krueger, the Chamber’s President/CEO. “Events like this are fun, and help us raise the funds which allow the Chamber to focus on strengthening the local economy.”
Additional event sponsors included Eyes of Arizona, Roel Construction, SCF Arizona, Romer Distributing, KJJJ/KNTR, and Wells Fargo Bank.
