Chamber Graduates 28 from Leadership Program

The alumni group of the Havasu Leadership Development Program grew by 28 Wednesday evening, following the graduation ceremonies of the Class of 2007. The event, in true Academy Award style was conducted at Shugrue’s Bridgeview Room. The Lake Havasu Area Chamber of Commerce produces the program.

Prior to graduating, the class heard from Ralph Tapscott, Chairman of the Chamber’s Board of Directors; Nancy Darrow, the Chamber’s Education Committee Chairman; and Lisa Krueger, Chamber President/CEO.

Additionally, the class was honored by Program Co-Chairs Mark McKinnon, Melissa Brocker, Melissa Dobar, Catherine Rabik and Darren Carson. Announced at Co-Chairs for the 2007-2008 program were Brendan Nunemacher, Debbie Rosales, Sarah Messmer and Lorri Rains.

Part of the event was dedicated to a DVD presentation of this year’s class project, Friendship Park at the Western Arizona Humane Society. Classmates also conducted a roast of each other.

Graduates are: Pat O’Rourke, Mohave State Bank; Judy Grothe, Lake Havasu City Fire Department; Dr. Kelli Ward, Lakeview Family Healthcare; Tom Otero, Mohave Electric; Lorri Rains, State Title Agency; Amy Whitson, Mohave State Bank; Janice Brown, Lake Havasu City Parks and Recreation; Julie Madden, Coach-Net; Sherryl Stearns, Telesis Preparatory Academy; Jackie Miller, Wells Fargo Bank.
Also, Lora Sopoci, Coach-Net; Teri De Rosa, Wells Fargo Home Mortgage; Matt Kelly, Lake Havasu City Parks and Recreation; Sarah Messmer, The Boat Brokers; Valari Rose-Johnson, Lake Havasu High School; Joe Archie, Lake Havasu City Police Department; Kevin Reid, AJS Insurance Agency; Clint Darrow, Sterilite Corporation; Charlene Bryant, Horizon Community Bank; Tim Rodriquez, Lake Havasu City Parks and Recreation; Nathan Burnell, Horizon Community Bank; Derek Schreiner, Mohave State Bank; Michelle Ravnikar, Lake Havasu Unified School District.

Havasu Leadership Development is an intensive, 9-month program which teaches participants specific leadership skills along with providing a overview of business, education, healthcare, etc., in Lake Havasu City. The program has been provided by the Chamber for eight years.
